Event Policies

Event Policies

All students attending Block Party are expected to follow ASPB event policies, university expectations, and all instructions provided by event staff, security personnel, and campus officials. Please review the information below before attending the event.

Entry Requirements

To enter Block Party, students must present the required event wristband and valid identification based on their ticketing process. All attendees should be prepared for metal detector screening, physical inspection, bag and personal item checks at entry points.

Re-entry will not be allowed.

Permitted Items

The following items are permitted at Block Party event entry:

  • Clear or non-clear bags no larger than 6" × 9", including small clutch bags, fanny packs, and crossbody bags
  • Hydration packs/water reservoirs, clear or non-clear, with no more than two (2) main compartments and one (1) smaller compartment
    • Hydration packs do not have a strict size limit but must be designed primarily for hydration and must not resemble a large hiking or school backpack (compartments no bigger than to fit a paperback novel). 
    • Must be empty upon entry and are subject to inspection
  • Prescribed medication, including EpiPens and inhalers
    • Attendees may be asked to provide applicable prescription information and/or consult with event staff
  • Valid R’Card
  • Valid physical government-issued ID
  • Mobile devices
  • Foldable fans/Hand held electric fan (no bigger than the size of your hand)
  • Small portable chargers
  • Empty reusable water bottles no larger than 2L
  • Point-and-shoot digital cameras
  • Personal hygiene products (travel size: non aerosol sunscreen & deodorant, lipbalm/chapstick, wipes, hand sanitizer)
  • Menstrual products; additional products will be available at the Info Canopy at the Bell Tower
     

Prohibited Items

The following items are not permitted at Block Party:

  • Knives, weapons, water guns, or other items that may be used as weapons

  • Drugs, alcohol, or illegal substances

  • Professional cameras, professional media equipment, audio recording devices, drones, or remote-controlled devices

  • Laser pointers, airhorns, or flashlights

  • Glass bottles, cups, cans, and open or closed consumables

  • Bags larger than 6" × 9", whether clear or non-clear, except permitted hydration packs as described in section above

  • Backpacks, school bags, duffle bags, large purses, or similar large bags

  • Chains or chain wallets

  • Chairs, tents, or blankets

  • Bicycles, skateboards, or scooters

  • Pets or animals, except approved service animals

  • Outside food

  • Flags or totems

  • Selfie sticks

  • Bota bags or flasks

  • Balls or frisbees

  • Pepper spray or tasers

  • Umbrellas

  • Unauthorized distribution of materials, solicitation, or campaigning, including flyers and stickers

  • Any other items deemed unsafe, disruptive, or prohibited by UCPD, event staff, or the security team
     

Important Note:

Re-entry will not be permitted.

All attendees should be prepared for:

  • Metal detector screening
  • Additional screening or physical inspection if deemed necessary by the security team
  • Inspection of all bags and personal items
  • Additional review of items not specifically listed in this policy
     

Items not listed above may be subject to review at the discretion of event staff. Event staff reserve the right to make final determinations regarding items not listed above.

ASPB is not responsible for lost items and will not hold items that are not permitted inside the venue. Any lost items found after the event will be turned over to UCPD.

 

Zero-Tolerance Conduct Violations

Block Party attendees are expected to follow all ASPB event policies, university expectations, and directions from event staff, security personnel, and campus officials. The following conduct violations may result in immediate removal from the event, surrender of the student’s R’Card, and referral to Student Conduct and Academic Integrity Programs (SCAIP) for review under applicable conduct procedures.

  • Possession, use, or sale of illegal substances or alcohol where prohibited
  • Physical violence, assault, or threatening behavior
  • Harassment, discrimination, or other abusive conduct
  • Possession of firearms, knives, or other dangerous weapons
  • Vandalism or destruction of property
  • Unauthorized access to restricted or staff-only areas
  • Removal, tampering, transfer, or misuse of event wristbands
  • Failure to follow directions from security personnel, event staff, or law enforcement
  • Sexual misconduct or unwanted physical contact
  • Unauthorized use of professional recording equipment or other restricted devices
  • Unsafe crowd behavior, including pushing, crowd surges, or conduct that endangers others
  • Violations of UCR community guidelines, student conduct expectations, or university policies
  • Clothing or accessories displaying derogatory, offensive, or hateful messages

Failure to comply with event policies may also result in loss of eligibility to attend future ASPB events.

All students attending Block Party are expected to follow ASPB event policies as well as UC Riverside’s Standards of Conduct and Principles of Community. Students are responsible for reviewing and abiding by these expectations before attending the event.
